Garvan Institute of Medical Research
Thursday, 30 August 2018
Join us for Australia’s first-ever national symposium for medical professionals and health consumers dedicated to improving the lives of Australians living with Lynch syndrome. This is a one-stop shop for information, solutions and hope for Australians living with Lynch syndrome, their families and those professionals and academics who support them.
Our symposium will examine and challenge the main medical, systemic and behavioural barriers to improving diagnosis, treatment and care for the tens of thousands of Australians living with Lynch syndrome and showcase best practice, latest research and innovations in minimising cancer risks.
An innovation forum in the morning will be followed by a consumer information and networking event in the afternoon. Medical professionals, academics and consumers will be welcome to attend for the whole, or part of, the day.
Cancer organisations, charities and support networks are invited to host information stands and commercial organisations invited to partner with LSA and support the event.
Who Should Attend?
Lynch syndrome is generally poorly understood in the medical profession and diagnosis, treatment and care are complex to manage for people living with this lifelong risk of cancer.
Taking Control Surviving and Thriving is suitable for all health consumers with Lynch syndrome, their families and supporters.
Taking Control has also been designed to benefit all people working to support those with Lynch syndrome and who would like to better understand how to advise them on managing and minimising their lifetime risk of cancer.
