Toni attended the very first “Living with Lynch Syndrome” conference just after LSA had been established. Having been involved with consumer health organisations and understanding the need to provide support to individuals diagnosed with Lynch syndrome, Toni saw an opportunity to contribute her knowledge and experience to LSA. Toni joined Lynch Syndrome Australia’s board in 2013.
As with many people with Lynch syndrome, Toni had numerous family members diagnosed with multiple cancers. Toni was having colonoscopies every five years as recommended for a family member of a relative who had bowel cancer. Her gastroenterologist, who was the first medical practitioner to suggest genetic testing, joined the dots and referred her for genetic counselling and subsequently genetic testing. Toni, her sister and most of her cousins tested positive for Lynch syndrome. Toni is passionate about raising awareness of Lynch syndrome with both the general public and health professionals.
Toni has a health professional background and has a particular interest in advocacy, person centered care and consumer engagement.
